Apologizing for not having responded earlier and describing his poor health, which involves cerebral anemia; explaining that he has thought of giving "l'Hermitage" [journal] an unpublished portion of "Mystery of the masses" concerning the war; indicating that he is sending a hasty draft that he is depending heavily upon him to critique, especially a chapter depicting a city on the verge of mobilization; showering general praise upon him as a philosophical inspiration.
